Cactus Blue

The flowers leading to fuit on Opuntia galapageia var. profusa on Isla Rábida. The contrast of green cactus and South Pacific bue oceans was a detail that struck me as odd.

Opuntia galapageia var. profusa

Cactus on a beech and in the Galapaos Islands. That is a scene I just necer expected. Most of us, myself in particular, have a stereotypic preconceptions of the cactus being a desert plant. And rightly so, given we weren't born, nor live, in these islands. Opuntia galapageia profusa is in fact endemic to Isla Rábida.

Wilhelmina Pavilions

The Keukenhof Gardens near the Wilhelmina Pavilions is truly a remarkable space. The visual layering of tree canopy, flower color, grading and reflections in the water shows a proud attention to detail by the landscape architects, garden designers, and maintenance staff of this wonderful facility. The tree textures along the top of the image gave me inspiration to create an interesting mirrored version of this image you might want to check out in the 'Esoterica' section of my website.

Walk In The Woods

The Keukenhof Gardens have a variety of themes and styles throughout - the wooded setting here is just one example. I also used this scene as the basis for an abstraction you can find elsewhere on my website.

Reflections

Ah - water and reflections! A great layering of visual garden design that's supplemented by the attention to detail in everything from planting to lawn edges and tree pruning. There are many subtly framed views such as this.

Blue River

Keukenhof Garden just outside of Amsterdam, NL. A slightly overcast day didn't hamper the wonderful color and beauty of these meticulous botanical gardens.

Color Bands

The garden design throughout the Keukenhof has a wonderful attention to detail - both in design and maintenance. The elegant curves and attention to seasonal change in the blossoms is jus tone example shown here. Of course having 200+ gardeners to pay attention to every detail doesn't hurt either :D LOL
